While fraud is not common during car shipping, it does happen. So, it is best to take some small steps to protect yourself.
In order to ensure that the correct company is picking up your vehicle, you should always ask to see and record the credentials of the driver picking up your vehicle. Credentials can include a bill of lading, their driver’s license, or a copy of their Federal Motor Carrier Authority matching their company name. If a carrier refuses to provide the requested information, the vehicle should not be given to the carrier. You can also record their license plate number as an added security measure.
