The majority of vehicles shipped are transported on 8-10 car haulers that you typically see delivering new cars to dealerships.
However, your vehicle could also be transported on a different type of car carrier for a number of reasons.:
- If you choose enclosed transport, which is typically used for high-value cars, it will obviously not be an open car carrier. Also, most enclosed carriers are designed to carry fewer vehicles at a time. (See our post on Enclosed Auto Transport for more info.)
- For shorter hauls, such as within the same state, you will frequently find trucks that hold 2-4 vehicles to be the norm.
- Demand for auto transport in the pick-up and delivery areas can make it more economical for auto transporters to primarily use a truck that has a lower capacity.
Regardless of the type of truck your vehicle ships on, it is the professionalism and customer service you receive from the auto transport company that matters most. Be sure to choose an auto transporter with a good track record of happy customers.
